Moleskine Journey featured on Hi Fructose Magazine Blog

Hey all,

I was lucky enough to get a spot on the Hi Fructose Magazine where they are featuring some pages from my moleskine mission as well as some words from myself about the ideas behind it.
Thanks to Garry from Phone Booth gallery for posting it up a couple months back, and to Ken from Hi Fructose for writing up the article!

Cheers

More Odds and Ends!

Interesting Links:

Edit: Sorry I can't fix the retarded spacing down below, so just scroll down and have faith, the images are down there haha! Damn you Blogger!!!!

one of the artists that really got me inspired at improving my drawing, Wes Burt Interview

Fantastic Art Blog http://curetheblind.com/

What I learnt this week from my mistakes:'

-Don't Start the final drawing until you've solved every problem in the studies, including how the 4 major tones relate to each other and where they are.

-Try to keep major light and major darks connected together for unity, so it doesn't look patchy

-I really need to dedicate an hour a day just to focus on working up my weaknesses.

_Write them down when I think of them, cause I've forgotten the other ideas!!!

aaaah.
More coming soon, not trying to dump too much at once these days. I finished that mermaid commission, but not posting it hehe ;) gotta send it to client tomorrow first.
This is one I've been working on and off, just a variation to the other one for shits and giggles.

Some Photos I took in Europe, can anyone guess the city? hehehe

I really want to save up and get an SLR camera and learn photography, would be a lot of fun.

Mermaid progress

here is a progress of a commission...

The client wants there to be a circle around the mermaid formed by her tail and she will be holding a sword and shield.

Still a long way to go, it's been quite challenging but I am trying to keep is soft and not push the contrast too far except perhaps the head, keeping the rest in a closer tonal range.
I'm using about 5 different photos for ref so bear with me as I try to make a cohesive image :P

Cheers.

Picture Kitchen

Hey guys, our group show entitled "Picture Kitchen" will be starting on the night of Wednesday 9th June 2010, and will run until the 23rd of June at the Tap gallery in Darlinghurst, Sydney. I will put up more details about the show via facebook events, etc in case anyone would like to attend!

A couple of experiments, not really sure what the hell I am doing, sort of trapped in the vortex between fine art and illustration, not really good enough for either, so hopefully I will break out soon enough.

Also updating website with better scans of all my recent work.

Cheers!
